The Marathon Des Sables – is a week-long sporting adventure – a seven day, ultramarathon (approximately the distance of six regular marathons) – and we’re very proud to confirm that Lorna Doran, Practice Education Lead in Technological University Dublin (and Friend of CRY) has signed up to complete this epic challenge and to raise funds & awareness for our work.
The Marathon Des Sables is the world’s toughest race and Lorna will deal with temperatures that could reach 45 degrees celsius, carrying everything she will need for the six days on her back from the start.
Lorna (pictured below) is a keen runner & a cardiac physiologist so she’s bringing her passion for running & cardiology together to run for CRY!
Over the course of the week Lorna will run 257KM (160 Miles) – Lorna tells us the hard training is done! We’ll share Lorna’s desert photos along her journey and wish Lorna every success on this EPIC challenge!
