Giving in Your Will

 If you are considering leaving a gift in your will to CRY Ireland (Cardiac Risk in the Young in Ireland Limited), thank you. Your generosity creates a lasting legacy, helping us continue our vital work for years to come.

Legacy giving is a growing movement in Ireland as more people recognise the lasting impact they can have on society by including a gift to a Charity they care about in their Will.

Your gift will impact generations of families for years to come. It is a lasting act of kindness and a very special way to support a cause that matters to you into the future. Your support will allow CRY Ireland to continue with our Vision – the prevention of sudden cardiac death of young persons in the island of Ireland.

If CRY Ireland is a cause that has touched you or  your family, leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most profound ways you can extend our services in areas of our greatest needs.

A legacy gift is a very personal matter. You will want to think about your family and your loved ones first.  But remember that you can also provide support for the cause you believe in and we would be honoured to be part of your legacy. A legacy gift can be large or small and is tax free.   Your legacy gift means that your generosity can extend beyond your lifetime.

You can choose to gift CRY Ireland:

  • A sum of money – any sum that suits your circumstances. This is a pecuniary bequest.
  • A percentage of the value of your estate. This is called a residuary gift and can range from 1% to 100% of your estate, depending on what best suits your circumstances. Even a gift of 1% would be hugely impactful to CRY Ireland.
  • A specific named item of value.

We give you our utmost assurance that we will use your gift as carefully and as cost effectively as possible to bring the maximum benefit to our families affected by sudden cardiac death and those living with a diagnosis of an inherited cardiac condition.

Important things to remember

You should always seek professional advice about making or amending your Will. Your solicitor can advise you on key considerations regarding your Will and can ensure it is legally binding and that your wishes are carried out.  Your solicitor can also advise on the tax and financial advantages of leaving a gift in your Will to CRY Ireland.

If you already have a Will and wish to amend it to include a gift to CRY Ireland, you will be required to use a Codicil form (a written amendment that alters or adds to your existing Will).  Adding a codicil to your Will enables you to leave a donation to CRY Ireland whilst ensuring that the other provisions remain untouched and you won’t have to pay for your Will to be completely rewritten.  Your solicitor can advise on this.
