A Gift in Your Will

If you are considering leaving a gift in your will to CRY Ireland (Cardiac Risk in the Young in Ireland Limited), we thank you most sincerely. Your generosity  and kindness would create a lasting legacy, helping us continue our vital work for in the years to come.

You will also be joining a growing movement in Ireland and across the world as more people are recognising the lasting impact they personally can have on our future society by including a gift to a cause they care about in their Will.

CRY Ireland needs support to realise our Vision – the prevention of sudden cardiac death of young persons in on the island of Ireland, positively impacting future generations of Irish families.

If CRY Ireland is a cause that has touched you or  your family or friends, leaving including a gift in your Will is one of the most profound ways you can extend our services in areas where we see the greatest needs.

We recognise that considering a legacy gift in your will is a very personal matter. You will want to think about your family and your loved ones first.  But remember that you can also provide support for the cause you believe in and we would be honoured to be part of your legacy. A charitable legacy gift can be large or small and is tax free.

Your legacy gift enables your generosity and empathy to extend beyond your lifetime.

Important things to remember when writing a will.

As personal circumstances vary, everyone should seek professional advice when making or amending a Will. Your solicitor can advise you on key aspects regarding your  specific Will including legal, tax, financial and other considerations; ensuring it is legally binding and that your wishes and instructions are carried out.

When including a gift in your Will to CRY Ireland, it can be helpful to have the following information for your solicitor to hand:

Did you know?

A legacy gift can be a specific sum, a specific asset or item, a % of your estate (an estate is all assets, less any liabilities) or form part of the residue (what is left over after any specific beneficiary bequests to loved ones or charities).

If you already have a Will and wish to amend it to include a legacy gift to CRY Ireland, you can add a Codicil  (a written legal amendment that alters or adds to your existing Will).  Adding a codicil to your Will enables you to include a legacy gift to CRY Ireland whilst ensuring that the other provisions remain untouched and you won’t have to pay for your Will to be completely rewritten.  Your solicitor can advise on this. If you need help finding a solicitor, you can visit the Law Society website.
