What a night!!!

Wednesday 25th May was the night the students of the SRC Music Department lit up the Marketplace Theatre, performing a variety of musical styles. With a record attendance the audience were not disappointed. Each year the Music Department stage their Showcase, all proceeds from the event are donated to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY – Ireland).
The concert is a culmination of the students’ studies; they staged the whole event from technical support, performance and promotion.

This year we were delighted to have the Deputy Lord Mayor Brendan Curran, Michael Greene, Chairman of CRY and his wife and Charity board member Marie Greene, Jimmy Gildernew and Anne and Tommy Fegan, whose support means so much to the College and to the students.

This year awards were given to 4 students:

  • The Endeavour Award – Rob Cook, sponsored by CRY in honoring the memory of Kevin Fegan.
  • Award for Excellence – Stephen Murphy, sponsored by VIVA Bar, Armagh £100 vouchers from Music World, Armagh.
  • The Goosebump Award – Tom Holland, presented by Gerry Connelly £30 Matchetts Voucher.
  • The Best Excuse Award – Katherine Dugan, presented by Sarah Champ two tickets for Our Back Yard Festival.

The professionalism displayed was outstanding. The Students are certainly well equipped to move to the next stage of their journey in education and the world of life, work and play and are excellent ambassadors for their college and the creative studies department
The evening was directed by Paddy Craig, Course Co-ordinator. “What a fantastic night our students excelled on every level”.

The acts performed a wide genre of music and highlighted the varying talents of the music students. The 2nd year students wrote, composed and performed a special performance called 7 which was pre-recorded onto a CD by the Yr 2 students who designed, produced and promoted the CD on the night priced £5. All proceeds donated to CRY.

The total raised was £1150!!
The evening was a total success and we look forward to 2017
