Cardiac Risk in the Young ‘CRY’ Out for Mini Marathon Runners
Michael Greene and Jacqui Hurley launch ‘Run for CRY’
RTE sports presenter and Irish athlete Jacqui Hurley launched our national appeal to encourage women around the country to ‘Run for CRY’ in this year’s Flora Women’s Mini Marathon on the June Bank Holiday. CRY hopes to attract up to 1,200 women of all ages to run with the aim of raising €250,000 to support the charity’s ongoing work.
All participants must enter on the official Entry Form which appears every Wednesday and Saturday in the Evening Herald OR online at www.florawomensminimarathon.ie. (On-line entries will incur an extra 1euro Bank processing charge). Closing Date: 27th April 2011 or when maximum number of entries is reached. Participants must be at least 14 on Mini Marathon Day.

Michael Greene, Chairman of the charity said, “The mini marathon is one of the main events in our fundraising calendar. Approximately 400 ladies ran for CRY last year and we are hoping that many more will get involved this year. Our aim is to recruit 1,200 runners and to raise €250,000 which will go towards continuing the free evaluation service at the CRYP Centre in Tallaght Hospital.”
Jacqui Hurley said, “Having been associated with CRY for a number of years I was delighted to launch this event as their first patron. The Mini Marathon is a great way for women to start a training routine and get fit in the run up to the June Bank Holiday. I would urge all to assist CRY in achieving its goal of 1,200 participants this year.”
