In anticipation of Irelandโs match against 2008 Glam Slam Victors Wales and in their ongoing defence of their Six Nations Championship, Cardiac Risk in the Young inaugural rugby luncheon will take place on Friday 12th March in Elm Park Golf Club on the eve of the Ireland V Wales Rugby International with Hugo McNeill, Managing Director Ireland, Goldman Sachs; Chairman Ireland Funds and Former Irish International and British & Irish Lions, as guest speaker.

Hugo MacNeill who joins CRY as guest speaker is a former Ireland rugby international who played on both the celebrated 1982 and 1985 Triple Crown and Championship winning teams. Ireland’s first-choice full back for most of the 1980s, he missed just six games over an eight-season international career (1981-88). Subsequently, MacNeill captained the Oxford University team and was also Captain of a joint Oxford Cambridge team against Japan. Hugo also received the accolade of selection for the British and Irish Lions New Zealand Tour, 1983.
Hugo is Chairman of the Ireland Funds, an internationally renowned organisation which key aims combine philanthropy and strategic giving. He is a man with outstanding credentials within the field of sport and business and CRY are delighted to have him as special guest for their inaugural rugby luncheon.
CRY is actively engaged in raising much needed funds for the further development of the National CRYP Centre, for the evaluation of persons at risk from the condition. The CRYP Centre at Adelaide and Meath Hospital (AMNCH), Tallaght, screens in excess of 1,500 patients of all ages annually. The innovative new Centre, supported by CRY aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of those diagnosed with, or at risk from cardiovascular disease. This includes relatives of victims of sudden cardiac death where the cause may be inherited. These families are seen as a priority. All its services and those at the CRYP Centre are free regardless of a person’s financial circumstances.
