St. Stephen’s Day saw the Ruth family, Remember Damien for their 8th Annual Memorial Soccer Tournament.
Amy was in touch and told us; “Once again we had a brilliant turnout on St.Stephens Day for the Damien Ruth Memorial Soccer Tournament. Congratulations to the Cup Winners – Tina Kennedy Motors, captained by Conal Kennedy and the Shield winners – Dow Jones, captained by Simon Ahearne.
We’re delighted to let you all know that a total of €4,450 was raised through entry fees and donations on the day along with very generous donations via the Just Giving link online.
This year €700 of the amount raised will be donated to C.A.R.E Cancer Support Centre Clonmel and €700 will also be donated to Clonmel man Andrew Laste for his next trip to bring humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.
The remaining €3050 has been donated to @cryireland in Damien’s memory and will support them with their ongoing work raising awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome and supporting families affected by Sudden Cardiac Death.
The tournament is sponsored by @37queenstreetclonmel , thank you Ronan for your continued support. A huge thank you also to @clonmeltownfc. The club has always gone above and beyond to facilitate the tournament which we truly appreciate. A big thank you to the ladies that ensured everyone was fed and watered, particularly @sarahbyrne88 , @erinrruth and @cat_pringle88 , ye played a blinder!
This year we received a generous donation of an Irish Jersey signed by Chiedozie Ogbene. Thank you so much @amblercairns for this very kind gesture. The draw has been done and the winner was Rory O’Dowd.
As always the biggest thanks to @cunnygerringham for the time and effort he puts into organising the tournament every year. This was the eighth year running the tournament, raising great amounts for CRY and local charities also. Well done to everyone that plays, volunteers and donates Happy New Year and we hope to see you all again next St. Stephens Day”.
