Our Friends in @IrishHeartFoundation have asked that we share their Invite with you; please read their message below:
Dear Family Members of the SADS community,
Whether your young loved one died suddenly 30 years ago or more, or just a few months ago, we would like to invite you to attend our Annual Memorial Service which has taken place every year since 2005.
The Monumental Church at the crossroads in Monkstown, Co Dublin, has been our location for this beautiful service since then. It was suggested to a small group of bereaved parents by Anne and Derek Simpson who lost their dear son Robert at age 18. Sadly, we have now also lost Anne.
We held this service online during the pandemic with great participation and are delighted that we can now continue both in-life and online.
Most families who have experienced our simple service with a candle-lighting procession and beautiful music and songs come back again year after year. The music and heartfelt songs are performed by a group called Reflexions, all of whom have been touched in some way by a young SADS death.
Our mission is to enfold the broken hearts of families who have lost young members in the build-up to the holiday season when memories can be most difficult but also so precious. It provides a place where we can be together in our very particular grief and know we are not alone.
We always have a cuppa tea afterwards and shed a tear or have a laugh with old friends, in the knowledge that we are all in a club we never wanted to join!
We also can share our journeys of family screening which is so, so important. If you would like to bring a framed photo of your loved one, we can display it for you.
We hope to see you there at 2 pm on 27th November, but if not in-person you can join us on live stream: https://www.youtube.com/…/UCw9yjPMe6ExEvlB8yc…/videos…
