I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well at this difficult time.
Following the recent appointment in CRY Ireland of Elaine Whelan as “Family Support Programme Coordinator”, we are pleased to advise that we are working towards the launch of a new all-island telephone helpline supporting people who have been affected by Sudden Cardiac Death and those who are living with a lifestyle change because of a diagnosis of an
inherited heart condition.
If you need someone to talk to, we will listen, we will help and we will provide support….This phone helpline will be provided free to all and will be delivered by trained volunteers.
Our volunteers will fall into two categories i) Active Listeners and ii) Mentors.
All volunteers will complete a comprehensive training programme which due to COVID will be delivered on-line by an experienced trainer with a psychology background. Approximately 10 hours over 4 days of training will be required.
We are looking for volunteers to get involved. If you are a good listener, looking to give something back and support people who are travelling on a difficult journey, please get in touch with Elaine by phone +353 87 2174205 or by Email [email protected].
Volunteering also offers you an opportunity to develop new skills and build on existing experience and knowledge. CRY Ireland will ensure appropriate training and support to all volunteers. We are working towards the launch of this pilot Helpline over the summer months.
Stay safe and look after one another at this difficult time. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you in going live with this new Helpline.
With every good wish.
