Newry native, Catherine Fegan has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of CRY Ireland. Catherine is Chief Correspondent with the Irish Daily Mail & Irish Mail on Sunday. CRY became very close to Catherine’s heart in 2010, when her cousin Kevin, aged 24, died suddenly.
With a 10 year background in journalism, Catherine’s role has included interviewing politicians, business leaders and other high-profile personalities. Catherine’s main passion and speciality is in special investigations, which has allowed her to travel all over the world on assignment for the Mail.
Catherine has received a number of awards for her journalistic work such as Justice Media Awards for her legal journalism from the Law Society of Ireland in 2015, 2017 and 2018. She was also named “Journalist of the Year” and “Feature Writer of the Year” at the prestigious Newsbrands Journalism Awards in 2017.
Aside from her work as a journalist, Catherine has also dabbled in novel writing. Her first book, a true crime novel, is due to be published by Penguin in October 2019.
Speaking about her appointment as Trustee of CRY Ireland, Catherine said; “It is with great honour that I have been appointed as Trustee of CRY. It is a cause that has been very close to my heart for almost 10 years. I am delighted to be able to support CRY Ireland and I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that this appointment will present”.
