Mist and persistent rain failed to deter the hardy souls who braved Sliabh Gullion, South Armagh, for the Magical Mountain Tour in aid of CRY (Ireland) on Father’s Day.
The spectacular views normally available on Sliabh Gullion were denied to the walkers, but the engaging, informative and lyrical commentary by the three Ring of Gullion Ambassadors- Gary Martin, Anne Fegan and Cormac Mc Carthy, challenged the imagination in a way that revealed the mystery and mystique of the 60 million-year-old Ring of Gullion.
The highlight of the hike was a visit to the megalithic tomb on top of Sliabh Gullion, the highest passage tomb in Ireland and Britain. Additional commentary provided on the way by Anne Fearon ensured that all of the participants availed of a thorough historical, cultural and geographic understanding of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Demand will be high for the repeat trip on August 17th so those wishing to avail should book early.
