Limerick County Community and Voluntary Forum (LCCVF) would like to invite you to our upcoming seminar on Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. This is the fifth in a series of 6 seminars being run throughout the county by LCCVF. The core aim of this seminar is to gain a greater understanding of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
The seminar on Sudden Adult Death Syndrome will take place on June 25th at 7:30pm in Kilmurray Lodge Hotel Guest speakers for the evening will be :-
- John Lonergan, is a native of Bansha, Co. Tipperary. When he retired in June, 2010, he was the longest serving prison officer. For 22 years of his 42 years in the prison service, he ran Mountjoy prison as ‘The Governor’.
- Dr Deirdre Ward, Cardiologist, is the Director for the Centre for Cardiac Risk in Younger Persons which is located at the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Tallaght.
- Maureen Kelly is a primary school teacher and mother of four. She is a founding member and current chairperson of the Irish Heart Foundation’s support group for SADS, formerly Sudden Cardiac Death, in the young and a committee member of the long QT support group.
- Bridget McAnallen from the Cormac Trust, Croi na Feile, who will speak on Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. The Cormac Trust was set up after the sudden death of Cormac McAnallen as he was a well-known sportsman of exceptional fitness and of ostensibly perfect health. From the time of Cormack’s death the McAnallen family was keen to direct public attention to these cardiac conditions that cause such sudden deaths.
As well as the main speakers, there will also be a consultation session during the evening and outcomes from the seminar will be used to inform Forum work over the coming period.
