Support CRY IRELAND (Cardiac Risk in the Young)
We provide comprehensive cardiac evaluation to those who may be at risk from Sudden Cardiac Death, either because of family history or worrying symptoms.
CRY IS an Irish charity, which was set up in 2002 to prevent Cardiac Risk in the Young.
CRY aims to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death, which kills 60-80 people between the ages of 1-35 each year.
Funds raised are used by the charity to support families who have lost a relative to sudden cardiac death (SCD), to raise awareness of the condition that cause SCD, AND TO FUND THE ACTIVITIES OF THE Centre for Cardiac Risk in Younger Persons (CRYP) in Tallaght Hospital. This Centre provides comprehensive cardiac evaluation of those who may be at risk from SCD either because of family history or worrying symptoms. The service is available to anyone in the country and is free to patient. The Centre receives no direct Government funding.
Michael Greene, Chairman of the charity said, “CRY is a self sufficient charity that deals with Sudden Cardiac Death. We do not receive any government funding and therefore raise all funds through fantastic events such as the annual Cork Women’s Mini Marathon. A number of ladies ran for CRY last year and we are hoping that many more will get involved this year. Our aim is to increase our numbers of runners and to raise much needed funds which will go towards continuing our FREE service of heart screening to young people at Tallaght Hospital”.
