CD RAISES FUNDS TO INCRASE AWARENESS OF CARDIAC RISK IN YOUNG PEOPLE
Voices raise a CRY for Ciara
A CD in memory of a Cork girl who died of cardiac arrest has just been launched.
The ‘Le Gra do Chiara’ CD was launched in Mr. Bradley’s bar on Barrack Street in memory of Ciara O’Connor.
The 15-year old Ballineen girl died from cardiac arrest four years ago. Now, proceeds from the CD will go towards the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) organization.
Among those who are on the CD are singer/songwriters Ciara O’Flynn of Noland Folk, a group of International folk-rock troubadours who hail from the west coast of Ireland, along with Sian Brown and poet Rab Urquhart.
Mark O’Connor paid a heartfelt tribute to his daughter Ciara at the event and thanked the artists involved for making such a special album. He also stressed the importance of CRY in efforts to raise awareness and provide screening facilities for those identified at risk.
Also speaking was Marie Greene, the woman who founded CRY with her husband Michael following the death of their son Peter in 1996.
The CD is available now from iTunes, from Mr. Bradley’s Bar, Barrack St, Cork; Pro Musica, Cork; Bandon Books, Bandon and Scannell’s Pharmacy, Ballineen.
