On Sunday May 1st the streets of Limerick will fill once again with runners, joggers and walkers from far and wide. The 2010 event saw over 6500 participants enjoy a superb day out.
There iss something here for everyone! The three events include a fully certified marathon, a half marathon and a 10K event. The three events commence over a staggered start schedule. The marathon starts at 9AM, the half marathon starts at 11:30AM and the 10K starts at 1:30PM. CRY is looking for volunteers to take part & raise funds and awareness for CRY.
All participants will start at the same start line and finish at the same finishing point. The race is unique for many reasons. The marathon enters the city on no less than four occasions which helps to generate great support for the athletes. The route has been carefully designed to incorporate the many sporting and historic highpoints in Limerick including the city centre Georgian architecture, the world famous University of Limerick, King Johns Castle, The Treat Stone and Thomond Park. The race follows the River Shannon in many places adding to the overall occasion. A total of 10 musical points are located along the last 10KM to help everyone enjoy the day and celebrate a great occasion in the Sporting Capital of Ireland.

CRY are seeking volunteers to take part in the Great Limerick Run and raise some vital funds for this great cause. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Lucia at [email protected] or call 01 452 5482.
CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) Ireland relies on fundraising alone to fund their vital charity as we receive no funding from the Government. CRY Ireland is a great cause that provides a medical facility in Tallaght Hospital for evaluating at-risk individuals and families, particularly young people.
Over 5,000 people suffer sudden cardiac death in Ireland each year, of which 60 to 80 are young people under 35 years. Cardiac disease in young people is mostly due to inherited heart disease or birth defects (congenital heart disease). It is estimated that over 10,000 people in Ireland carry genes for inherited heart disease, more often than not unknowingly.
CRY Ireland is calling for volunteers to run the marathon in aid of their important charity to raise crucial funds for this great cause. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Lucia at [email protected] or call 01 452 5482. Sponsorship cards, t-shirt & visor available.
