The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) launched a major initiative to assist member clubs to address the issue of SADS. Under the initiative, every club in the organisation will be given the opportunity to purchase a defibrillator at cost price (approx. 1200 euro). In addition, the Voluntary Health Insurance will provide introductory training in the use of defibrillators in selected clubs throughout the country.
The GAA hope that the placement of defibrillators will have a wider use if required. It is envisaged that they will be available not only for the member clubs but also for the broader community in the area
