About the Trust
The Trust was established in 2010 by the family and friends of Mark Heffernan, who passed away in his sleep at his apartment in GMIT on 21st January 2008. He was only 23 years old, and had just completed his mid-term exams.
The work of The Trust will, it is hoped, ultimately benefit our youth, while highlighting this tragic and silent killer, and in doing so, will honour the memory of a remarkable young man who cared so much for those around him.
To date the Mark Heffernan Trust has deployed over 75 defibrillators to date and has provided training for a variety of user groups. In addition, training in CPR continues to be rolled out to schools and colleges across the country, as well as our ongoing support to cardiac screening and genetic research. Their mission continues.
Heartfelt thanks from Cry Ireland to Martin, Kate and Shane and the Mark Heffernan Trust for their continued support of our work.
