Dunboyne Pedal Pushers take on charity cycle around the four provinces of Ireland in aid of CRY Ireland
The Dunboyne Pedal Pushers embarked on a 365km cycle around Ireland on the 17th/18th September in aid of CRY Ireland.The two-day event kicked off on Saturday 17th September at 7am in Dunboyne and was completed by 6pm on Sunday 18th September when the final bike crossed the finish line.The route included Dunboyne, Virginia, Edgeworthstown, Athlone, Ballinasloe, Birr, Roscrea, Tullamore, Edenderry, Enfield and Dunboyne making sure to hit all four provinces in Ireland.
The 30 cyclists who took part were made up of the Dunboyne Pedal Pushers cyclists group as well as staff from BearingPoint who were one of the sponsors of the event.Speaking on the morning ahead of the challenge, Michael O’Dwyer, a partner in BearingPoint stated:
We’re excited, if slightly daunted, by the journey ahead of us this weekend. As a cycling group, we were looking for a different challenge and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to try to raise over €10,000 on behalf of CRY. We have lots of sponsors, colleagues, friends and family to thank for helping us to raise the funds which will enable CRY to save lives.
Other sponsors of the charity cycle included VHI, Microsoft, Avonmore, VHI, Allianz, Microsoft, Kantan MT, Datalex, Kinnetica Sports, and the Innovation Value Institute.
Lucia Ebbs, Fundraising Manager with CRY Ireland was there on the day to support the cyclists and said,“We are so thrilled that the Dunboyne Pedal Pushers have chosen CRY Ireland as the charity they wish to support.We rely heavily on donations in order to continue the work we do in the CRYP Centre (Centre for Cardiac Risk in Younger Persons) in Tallaght Hospital.There was a great buzz around the place today and it’s great to see so many people involved and helping out in any way that they can.”
