A group of Cork based musicians have joined forces to record an album in memory of a Bandon teenager.
Le Gra do Chiara was recorded at the weekend in Mr Bradley’s Bar on Barrack Street as part of the Fireside Sessions in aid of CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young. The album is dedicated to the memory of Ciara O’Connor, who died suddenly of cardiac arrest in December 2005.
The 15-year-old was a third-year student at Colaiste na Toirbhirte in Bandon at the time of her death. A special song called One Step Behind was written in Ciara’s memory by Karina and Pat Healy, who knew her growing up. Karina said: “All of the songs that will feature on the Le Gra do Chiara album are very thoughtful and there is an element of hope in each one of them.”
Among those taking part in the initiative are singer/songwriters Ciara O’Flynn, of Noland Folk, a group of International folk-rock troubadours who hail from the west coast of Ireland along with Sian Brown and poet Rab Urquhart.
Le Gra do Chiara is launched on Saturday, December 4th in Mr Bradley’s Bar, Barrack Street, Bandon, Co Cork.
The album will be available to download or can be bough in the bar for €10 will all proceeds going to CRY.
