Meeting for SADS
Medical professionals gathered for an international conference on Sudden Adult Death Syndrome yesterday.
It is 50 years since the condition was discovered simultaneously by Irish doctor Conor Ward and Italian medic Caesare Romano in 1964.
The SADS conference, organised by the Irish Heart Foundation, was held in honour of Dr Ward who gave the opening speech.
GPs, paramedics, nurses and family members of those who have died from the condition attended the event at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin.
