Sally Carney opened her home once again to host a fundraising event in aid of CRY called Wax or Dye. This fundriaisng event was held in memory of her daughter debbie who died suddenly at the age of 29 in January 2013. The Carney Family welcomed their relatives and friends to a fun filled day in Co. Offaly. Various men volunteered to have their legs and chest waxed. Alot of pain was incurred by all involved, but they said it was worth it for this worthy cause.
Various people volunteered to have their hair died pink, including Tony Monaghan who last year had his long hair shaved in aide of CRY. Sally Carney has been a huge supporter of CRY since her daughter Debbie's death. This year alone she has run a charity shop, had a car boot sale, taken part in the Mini Marathon and finally this Wax or Dye event. She presented Orla Durkan from CRY with a cheque for €14,200 which are the proceeds of her fundraising work from this year alone. Alot of the Carney Family's friends and relatives also contributed to this fundraising. Orla Durkan presented Sally with a CRY pin to thank her for all of her work. CRY would like to say a huge thank you to both Sally and her friends and family.
